3 DVD Collection of the 1939 World's Fair. Over 6 hours of video.
Part one is the Medicus collection of the 1939 World's Fair. This silent film was shot using the then very rare color Kodachrome film system. There are title cards that describe the action just like an old fashioned silent movie. Both the Medicus and the Warthen collections contain over 4 hours of detailed documentation of the World of Tomorrow, World Showcase and Sideshows This is the most complete collection of images of this worlds fair. Amazingly this film does include nudity. It would seem that 1939 was not as innocent as one would assume. Please bare this in mind if you intend to show to younger viewers.
Also included are several films created to be displayed at the fair including
'To New Horizons" from the General Motors corporation.
on the Pre WW II utopian thought, and the wonders of 1960, brought to you by a tour of the futurama exhibit.

Scenes include equipment manufactured by RCA (the parent company of NBC) from the Rockefeller Center studios of NBC {National Broadcasting Company).

Disk 1 offers an exhaustive coverage. Beginning with a crossing of the fountain lake, and tour that follows the layout of the amusement area. Including a stop at Guili - Guili the king of magic's showplace, and several of the other attraction like, the Hollywood doubles, the Bathysphere, and little miracle town built to the scale of the Midget inhabitants. Moving on to children's world we spend time with an organ grinder and his monkey, before the swan boat ride, and other amusements. Next we catch part of Bill Robinson's Big Hit dance show. At the Aquacade we attend part of the water show featuring Eleanor Holm, the Aquagals, and Johnny Weismuller. We watch in awe the springboard experts performing many dives. Watch as some "workmen" do a little construction loaded with pratfalls and other physical gags, before the grande finale. From the Aquacade we move on to Merrie England, with it's replicas of famous sites, and the inevitable side shows, including a pipe and drum mini parade. George Jessel's Old New York is the next stop on our tour, with created streets and store fronts, and the bowery section with mechanical burlesque dancers, and a recreation of the naughty Can Can. See the daily attendance displayed on a large mock up of a National Cash Register machine, next to the living magazine covers, featuring topless women. In the next section we tour the main loop of the amusement area, starting with a show of Dali's surrealistic swimsuits - featuring more topless women, the Admiral Byrd penguin exhibit, and many of the rides. A rooftop exhibition from the savoy colored dancers, and some of the crowds at the drinking fountains. Do a little people watching with the camera outside the NTG Congress of Beauty. See some see thru bikini top clad beauties lounging around. , and performing "le Danse Barebareic". Visit the Sun Valley winter wonderland section, and see the ice skate show, and ski jumpers. Visit the crystal palace burlesque show, and watch the parachute drop ride. More topless dancing finishes out the reel. This reel takes us on to the Electrical section, some of the Industrial and Food buildings, and the State buildings. Starting with the administration building, and the Fair's most prominent citizen Grover Whalen. A stunning view from the perisphere, and along the Constitution Mall. See the crowds moving along the walkways to and from the perisphere and trilon. Tour the plaza of light during the day, and watch the fountains, before moving inside the showplace brought to you by Consolidated Edison. Also the Dupont, and Westinghouse pavilions, before moving on to the avenue of labour. Including wonderbread, and glass blowing, as well as Kraft foods, and the Chase & Sanborn puppet show featuring puppets of Charley Macarthy. before moving into the States exhibits, and the armed forces. Night shots of the color fountain display. From there we begin our tour of the international and Transportation areas bring a nice close to disk 1
Disk 2 opens on the Italian building, the brazilian site, and australia. From there we move to Great Britain, and France. The transportation area is explored next, including the Ford and the Chrysler pavilions, as well as the aviation site. Starting in the Firestone exhibit,before the Ford pavilion and a small tractor
demonstration. The Futurama is the highlight of the Fair, and we tour it next, flying over the model. before moving outside to the General Motors location. Watch part of the Jimmie Lynch automobile stunt show. On to the Food, Furnishings, Communication, Religious, Jewel and nearby section.
See the W.P.A. Puppeteers, and some of the statuary outside the AT&T communications pavilions. Tour the Temple of Religions site, and note the many religious murals. See the dazzling display of glittering jewels worth many King's ransoms. Visit the N. Y. City building before taking the Gardens on Parade. See placards of a few of the flora to be found within the gardens. Note the cacti in the desert greenhouse. See the Voice of the Tree and the Homes of Tomorrow. Next we see the Art exhibits. Next we see the lovely nights at the fair, with all the glass items, and fountains light up. Visit the "Coke" works, and see the beverage pass on conveyers, see the ladies watch a man bake, and marvel at the color, water and flame show. Stick around for Mardi Gras week at the fair, and sign autographs with Jane Withers. Watch a special show at the spirit fountain with fireworks. The last reel covers some of the contributing groups, the statues, flags, flowers, and more of the crowds. See dancers, costumes, some of the food available, and some visits by dignitaries and french sailors on Bastille day, and a visit by the King and Queen of England.

Ford Day at the Fair
On the 37th anniversary of the founding of the ford motor company, see the 28 Millionth car from it's tour of the US, Canada, and Mexico. Watch as the car and various ford executives, including Edsel Ford make speeches. See a quick tour of the ford exposition building as the film wraps up.

Good Drivers 1940
See the gathering of the best young drivers from around the states are recognized, and the officials who all congratulate the contestants, and explain the contest. See the tests given to the youths, before they get behind the wheel. Including eye, and color blindness exams, the drive-o meter, and paralel parking before the road coarse. On a tour of the city, they visit the American Airlines maintenance garage at La guardia, and a boat tour of the hudson river. See Edsel Ford sitting with the boys during the pre award show. Champion Gene Canard of Evansville, IN. is awarded a $5,000 scholarship.

More Scenes from the Fair
Film opens with panoramic aerial shots of downtown NY, before moving on to the fair grounds. Walk through the front gates, with a huge crowd, and see a grand tour of the grounds, starting with the Washington statues, moving on to the country buildings, and the individual state exhibits. Moving on to the flower gardens, and see Mrs. Alma and the children enjoying an Ice cream break. Learn of the progress in metals, communication, electricity, in the various pavilions, before moving into the ford exposition center. Watch the center piece of the ford exhibit, the Cycle of production. See the 152 ton turntable floating on 20,000 gallons of water, explain the spread of employment from raw material gathering to the finished product of the Ford car. From there we follow the crowd into the ford theatre to see a show, and on to the road of Tomorrow. where we can test drive new ford models. Finally we see the amusement areas, and the food courts, before the closing shots of the fireworks at night.

World's Fair Gardens on Parade
A visually stunning tour of the many flower gardens at the fair. See the intricate designs, in the various colors of the blooms, the lush lawns, and some of the incorporated statuary. Also included are a few shots of some of the buildings, and the amusement area, including the parachute drop. Moving on from there we are treated to views of the outside of the General Motors pavilion, and the Westinghouse site.

Silent film opening on the various country and state exhibits. Spend some time at the Swedish arts and crafts fountain, and the Italian building front waterfalls. Look on with others at the flamingos, and other exotic birds, and the golden carp, and large lily pads, before jumping to the French pavilion. Moving from there to the british pavilion., take in the royal crest and other items of interest on the exterior. The gardens on parade are covered next, with lovely color footage, and close ups of some of the water blossoms, and roses. See the Polish tower in close up, and more shots of the Italian building. Some great shots of the sphere and trilon from various angles. The United States exhibit is featured towards the last days of the fair, starting with shots of the exterior of the building. Moving to the Canadian site for shots of the parking lot.
