| Walt builds a fallout shelter |
Using the book, "the family fallout shelter" Walt walks
us through process of actually building it. From picking the right
spot, with a level floor, to laying out the block for the wall.
Walt gives out handy tips as well, like be careful while splitting
your blocks for the wall as the chips may fly towards your eyes.
Walt then mixes up a batch of mortar, and our wall is underway.
Once our morter begins to set, we tool the joints, Walt uses a piece
of 1/2 inch tubing. Moving on to the roof supports, Walt shows us
how to install them, more wall building, and then we install the
ceiling joists, and boards, although "don't put up too many
boards at a time, because you have to lay two layers of concrete
block on the roof". Notice the baffle wall covering the opening,
it might be a good idea to move the bigger pieces of furniture into
the room before that wall is built or you might have trouble.
