Military training film for the ski trooper, covers the basic skiing techniques needed to make a safe, successful trooper. Starting with ski, and boot selection, and the basics of ski care. Also adjusting the mounting, for the boots, on the ski, and waxing, and wax selection. Learn the proper grip for the poles, and the basic principles of walking on the skis, starting with the two-step, and the kick turn. Moving on to the actual skiing. We see the Schuss, (the Straight running position), The herring bone, sidestep, and the snowplow. Next is covered the snowplow turn, the traversing position, Side slipping, the Stemm Turn, and the Advanced Stemm turn. Followed by the Stemm Christiana, and jump turns, and basic jump information.

Follow our ski patrol as they go on a patrol, and watch as they use the terrain to cover their tracks, and weather a storm. See as the troop covers many of the moves required in skiing over different terrains, including the one-step, two step, and the skating step. Also watch as they cross through a forest, and cross bare ground, demonstrating different carrying techniques. Watch as the patrol ascends the mountain, using a safe climbing technique, hauls the equipment up, then descends the other side.
